Launch of the She Grows Mozambique Program by IFC
This week, some of the leading executives, entrepreneurs, and leaders from the private sector, civil society, and diplomacy in Mozambique gathered for the launch of the She Grows Mozambique program, an initiative by the IFC – International Finance Corporation, aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs in the sustainable growth and expansion of their businesses.
Among the voices present was Rumina Fateally, President of SPROWT, who participated in the event highlighting the importance of education and knowledge as essential pillars, and the need to create spaces for development and equitable access for women in business.
During her speech, Rumina emphasized the intrinsic qualities of women and that investing in women’s growth is investing in the progress and development of societies. She cited, as an example, the executive program Women on Boards promoted by the SPROWT Academy and the PIONEER Network. A message that deeply reflects SPROWT’s mission: accelerate action, strengthen skills, and build bridges of opportunity for women and young African leaders.
The She Grows Mozambique program comes at a time when, according to the World Bank’s Mozambique Gender Assessment, only 14% of women have access to formal credit, compared to 28% of men. These numbers underscore the urgency of initiatives that promote training, mentorship, and financial inclusion, enabling more women to scale their projects and actively contribute to national economic growth.
For SPROWT, participating in this launch represents more than a gesture of support—it is an ongoing commitment to transforming the female entrepreneurial ecosystem and strengthening collaborative work with partners. The organization believes that programs like this not only build capacity but also create networks of trust, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, which are essential for long-term success.
“Every woman who grows, makes her community grow. And when we support the growth of many, we are redefining the economic future of our country.”
— Rumina Fateally, President of SPROWT
Through this participation, SPROWT reinforces its role as a platform for female development and leadership, committed to inspiring, empowering, and connecting women entrepreneurs with the opportunities that help them thrive both within and beyond Mozambique.
